Technology in the classroom

Technology in the classroom. This has been a heated subject with the rise of technology in everyday life. It has both a myriad of positives and in my opinion one big negative.

Organization, time saving, communication are just a few of the positives of technology in the class room. Using a plethora of on line programs such as google calendar people are able to organize themselves while on line. This can drastically help a student in an advanced class. Once they have learned to organize their life to fit their schedule they can then just get the work that needs to be done finished. This will ultimately increase efficiency for that student alone. Efficiency leads to better work done faster. That means more time is saved and this results in net total of hours upon hours being saved; this term is known as time saving.

Communication; this term has changed drastically different then what it does now. It used to be people talking to each other face to face. In our constantly growing reliance on technology we have begun to use technology as a way of communication. Texting, phone calls, instant messenger, email and other things that are technology based ways that our society has made into forms of communication. It's the way of the future and times are changing.

The big elephant in the room that I have with technology is the ever growing reliance on it. We as an entire world are becoming more and more dependent on this thing that used to be a delicacy among the world. We take it for granted most of the time. When internet is down for a period of five minutes or so people will get very upset. It is not the end of the world but it is treated as if it is. Dead zones in the empty abyss of Wyoming are treated like holes to Hell. They ruin peoples lives when really they should not.

In a perfect world, we should be able to find a happy medium with technology in the classroom. When we have then we have hit the bulls-eye and we have won the grand prize. An ever building reliance on it is the one fear I have of technology in the classroom.
